Specific Guidance on Choosing Uniform
Both male and female students are expected to wear black trousers that are of a loose fit. This means the trousers should pull away from the calf of the student by a minimum of 1 inch. Trousers that are ‘tight fitting’ and that do not have a tailored boot cut shape are not allowed for school. For female and male students we recommend that the trousers are of a tailored boot cut or loose fit design. The fabric must be a woven cotton and not a jersey cotton. Please see the photographs below for clarification on what is and is not acceptable.
Trousers for both male and female students are black trousers. They are to be loose in nature. Suitable trousers should be loose around the calf area and should pull away from the leg by approximately 1-2 inches. Skin tight trousers are not acceptable. Pockets also need to be integrated into the trousers rather than a patch pocket on the back of the trouser.
Students are to wear black plain shoes for school. Boots and trainer style shoes will NOT be accepted as suitable footwear. The school reserves the right to decide whether shoes are acceptable. Students wearing shoes which are unacceptable will be expected to swap them for a pair from the school's stock.
Students are not allowed to wear any facial piercings under any circumstances. Nose studs and tongue studs in particular have become very popular but are not allowed. A clear stud for a piercing is NOT acceptable. Students are allowed to wear one small stud in each ear. Expanders are also NOT acceptable for school wear.
Hair needs to be a natural shade. Tram lines and part shaving of the hair is not acceptable. Students also need to ensure that cuts are not below a 2 grade. Extreme hair styles are also not allowed. This includes part shaving and tramlines.
Make up and nail polish/extensions must not be worn for school. Students wearing makeup and nail polish will be asked to remove it before going into lessons. If a child chooses to have nail extensions the soaking off process must be organised to take place before students return from holidays.
Students are allowed to wear a coat over their uniform while moving around the school. However, this should be an outdoor coat and not a sports top or hooded jumper.
